Bark River Fox River 3V Recurve Green Canvas Micarta - Bolster
The Recurve version of the Fox River has a 3/4 inch grind to the blade and an added false swedge grind to thin the point for fine work. The Recurve of the blade’s cutting edge increases the slashing or cutting power of the blade if used properly.
The trick to recurve blades is to engage what you want to cut behind the swell and then pull the front swell through the cut you have already started. These upgraded knives with 3V will cut longer between touch ups and will take a lot more hard use. The change to an upgraded steel enhances the field use of the knife by increasing the edge retention of the knife. Jason Thoune at DLT asked Mike to enhance the ergonomics of the knife and make it almost like a completely new model in the Professional Series.
Note that we have left the lanyard extension on this version of the Recurve. We extended the handle slabs, like we do on the New England Version that was originally ordered by Kevin Estela of the Estela Wilderness Learning Center. We then used corby bolts in the handle slabs and also shot a tube through the lanyard hole. These longer handle scales were then sculpted in the same style we use on the Aurora and Bravo-1. These changes really do make the Fox River in CPM3V look and feel like a new model.
The Fox River Recurve is supplied with the Bushcraft A.
